Join us for an exclusive reception to celebrate the opening of Civic Architecture: The Panoramic Photography of Thomas R. Schiff

Architects of capitols, courthouses and even libraries have sought to both project confidence in the democratic process and invite citizens to participate. In commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Declaration of Independence, explore a new exhibition that celebrates and studies the U.S.’s long tradition of civic architecture through sweeping panoramic photographs. From small county courthouses to the U.S. Capitol, see how our civic architecture has changed over two centuries and contemplate how these centers of government have sought to rise above or blend in with their surrounding landscapes. Be immersed in unique panoramic photographs that welcome you into civic centers across the United States and consider what ideals you might express in the built form.

Thomas R. Schiff and Cincinnati Museum Center curators will be joining us for remarks and conversation throughout this special evening, along with hors d’oeuvres and beverages.

Date:
Wednesday, June 25
6 p.m.

Location:
Cincinnati Museum Center
1301 Western Avenue
Cincinnati, OH 45203

Proceeds from the event support the photography collections at Cincinnati Museum Center.
